Totally Addicted to Cheese… Neal’s Yard Dairy

Cheese: who doesn’t love it? From oozy and gooey indulgent macaroni cheese to the oh so humble (yet great) cheese sandwich. However you like it: cheese is loved by all.
Being a savoury kind of gal I regularly opt for the cheese board after dinner instead of a dessert and I’m never disappointed. This is my favourite way of getting my cheese fix. This time of year a cheese board is an absolute necessity for me after dinner. Everyone’s a big cheese fan in my family and since my Dad’s birthday is a mere four days before Christmas it makes an ideal present!
My favourite place to go and buy cheese is Neal’s Yard Dairy. The Covent Garden shop is just a few minute’s walk from my office although there is another in Borough Market. I popped down there this week and came away with a piece of each of the following:
Sparkenhoe Red Leicester
Montgomery Cheddar
Childwickbury Soft Goat’s Cheese
Ragstone Goat’s Cheese
These went down brilliantly as my Dad’s birthday present, and I can’t wait to get them out for cheese and biscuits on Christmas Day.
Aside from the spectacular produce, paying a visit to Neal’s Yard Dairy is such a lovely experience. You are literally surrounded by mountains of cheese and in the style of an old fashioned shop you go up to the counter to be personally served by one of the friendly and knowledgable staff. They all really know their stuff and they cut you off samples of the cheese to try if you’re not sure what you’re after and make great recommendations.
If you’re a cheese fan, I’d strongly recommend you pop in to get yourself a lovely Christmas treat.
